"Functional and a good price" 2009-05-04
By A. Grafals (Bay Area, CA)
The setup was simple although the instruction manual wasn't particularly useful or well written. Once connected, it was easy to tune the device. Then, the connection of the earpiece with the device and my cell phone was simple. The only minor complaint I have is that after removing the earpiece from the charger, it can take a bit to re-pair with the devices. Also, switching between devices can be tricky and take several seconds when you try to answer a call. That has meant on a few occasions I find myself saying hello repeatedly, which can be embarrasing on the business line. But, once I pair with both in the AM, if I leave the headset off the charger and don't move the cell phone out of the area, then it works pretty seamlessly. All in all, I'm very impressed.

"It Works, But Many Isues to Sort Out" 2009-04-01
By peakay (SoCal, USA)
I bought this headset a few weeks ago so that I could use one headset for my cell and office phone. I am now using it successfully full time, but you have to want it as there are here are several issues to work out. also, on the headset, my frame of reference is an older Plantronics 640.

Pros:

- Small, good looking

- Allows one headset between a desk and cell phone

- Nice looking desk charger

- Great service from Jabra including no-cost accessories

Cons:

- Ear discomfort

- Not loud enough

- Could not pair to both phones without a call to Jabra

- Phone ring tone is unpleasant, too loud with new ear gel

- The ear speaker comes disassembled when removing the gels

- ear hooks flimsy - didn't have a problem though and they sent me extras

When I got this, I had several problems that i have been able to work out, but it took time an patience. I have a large ear and the standard hard rubber ear fitting has a molding line around the peremiter that irritated my ear. It also wasn't loud enough (maybe 60-70% of the volume of my also ear gelled plantronics 640). I read that Jabra sends ergonomic ear gels for this purpose if you call in and sure enough, they sent me a complete ear gel set and several extra ear hooks though they are not needed with these new gels.

OK, gels on...much better. more comfortable, volume is way up, a success. However, the speaker cover on the headset pulled off when i removed the original rubber and also when adjusting the gels. it snapped back on, but i may have to glue it back on to make sure it stays on

Unfortunately, after sorting the comfort and volume problems, the headset would only pair to the hub or my cellphone, but not both concurrently. again, Jabra customer service was able to help me and resolve the issue. here are the instructions for any others:

1) reset the headset: put the headset into the charging base, then unplug the base

2) reset the hub: unplug the bluetooth hub from power for 10 seconds and then replug in. after powering back up, press the small reset button (pen or paperclip) under the hub top cover for 10 seconds to reset the hub

3) Pair the headset to the hub

4) pair the headset to your phone

OK, so today I now have all the issues sorted out. Worth it? For me, yes. I work out of my home and like to be as mobile and hands free as possible. I now have a very compact, decent sounding headset that I can use in and out of the office.

I almost returned this and a product that gives you this any problems hardly deserves a 4 star rating, but since the service techs took care of me well and sent me parts at no charge to help solve the issues, I am still giving the product a high rating.

I hope this helps others considering this product...

 "Interesting office combo" 2009-02-02
By Zman (Boston, MA USA)
The earpiece is excellent. I'm primarily using it with a Blackberry 8820 and people rave about the sound quality on their end. It is a little soft on the earpiece side, but I don't have any trouble understanding people even in a noisy car.

The hub works OK, but I get the feeling that there is double echo cancelling at work - in both the earpiece and the hub, which makes it sound odd on the far end. It works fine as a listening device - conference call where others do most of the talking - but not great for one-on-one calls.

Overall, for the price, you can't beat the system.

"This is a great combo, I would buy it again in a heartbeat." 2008-12-04
By C. Dunavan
I have been using this for about a year and it is a great combo. The clarity is excellent and it is convenient to only have one headset that needs to be charged.

You can read others reviews on the JX10 elsewhere and it is now discontinued so I really wont go into that, other than to say, I never used the hook and it has never fallen out of my ear or become uncomfortable. Bottom line is, of all the BT headsets I have had, I liked the JX10 the best until it accidentally went thorough the washer and dryer (my fault, not Jabra). It still worked but would not hold a charge. I replaced it with a Jabra JX20, that is even better and paired up to the hub without issues.

Once you setup the hub, you will never need to mess with it again, I have mine hidden under my Avaya 9620 so the only footprint is the charging stand of the JX10. The sound is clear to about 30 feet.

The only minor flaws I have noticed on the Hub:

It sometimes takes up to 5 seconds to reconnect when turning the headset on. Once it is connected it will open and close the connection normally.

It would be nice if there was a light on the hub to indicate it has an open BT connection.

Opening the connection does not open the line (as in, you open the BT connection then press the headset button on the phone).

The only minor flaws I have noticed on the JX10:

1) It is capable of 4 colors on the LED but they use blue for everything but charging. How about Blue for "in call", green for "stanby" etc. because sometimes it is difficult to decide it is a fast flash or a slow flash.

2) Could be louder, this is never an issue in the office sometimes it is in the car.

Bottom line, at the price of around $150, this is a great office and cell phone setup that nobody seems to know about. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
